That's a much better approach since it (a) doesn't require anything unusual and (b) isn't artificially changing ANYTHING and (c) is precisely truthful - the file was CREATED on your disk on today's date, even though it was last "MODIFIED" ages ago. In addition to the touch command, there is an easy DOS / Windows command prompt batch file that can do the same thing with copy.exe arguments. One of the benefits of an archive file (including ordinary ZIP files) is that they maintain those stamps. I don't know that there's a way, or that there should be.
